Highlights from the 2018-2019 School Year
The John & Myrtle Gossett Charitable Foundation provided the JCEF with resources that helped yearbook students attend a writing workshop in Tacoma, a new reading program was implemented in First Grade, and the Middle School started Literary Lunch Time. JCEF also provided funding for audio equipment needed for young readers, a field trip to the Port Townsend Marine Center to use their dissection lab, and the senior class headed to Victoria to view a Parliament session and tour the Royal BC Museum.
Cartooniversity's artist Jeff Johnson taught young illustrators how to draw cartoon pictures of their Everyday Heroes. The 8th-12th grade classes attended the award winning musical, Dear Evan Hansen at the Paramount Theater in Seattle.
Albert Haller Foundation provided funding that helped students participate in sports, drama, and have all the school supplies they needed to engage in the activities offered. With funding from the Seattle Foundation, new robot kits were purchased for students to build and program. Elementary students are learning computer coding, and grant funding is providing STEM kits for every age level.
The Ben & Myrtle Walkling Memorial Trust provided the resources to further the Middle School Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math programs.
